From Indecisive to Decisive...
Being the most indecisive person on the planet, I can relate to this topic pretty well. :D
Over the years, with this dilemma, I decided to dig deep to get a solution that would help us all indecisive squads.
In this article, I have something interesting to offer you.
So, Hang in there!
Just a question for you, Why do we usually feel indecisive to make a decision?
Possibility 1. We are the great procrastinator in the world ;)
Possibility 2. We are afraid of the consequences
If you are with a possibility 1, sit back and relax, I will catch you later!
Every decision we make has consequences attached to it. The consequences can be the way we want them to be or else totally opposite to what we wish.
There is no problem when we know the consequences won't disappoint us.
We don't want the consequences that will be not in our favor. Of course, nobody is comfortable with this part. This is the main root cause of feeling indecisive when it comes to making a decision.
Now, as you know where the problem starts, you will be able to know how to tackle this.
Making a big decision is a challenging and terrible nightmare, indeed!
We feel lost, helpless, directionless, indecisive, and afraid to choose one way to go with.
Big decisions and certainty never go together, but big decisions and more conflicted feelings do go well with each other.
If you are waiting to get certainty or surety about how your decision would turn out before making a decision, then mark my words, that day is never going to come!
You can forecast the consequences up to a certain range, but not beyond that.
By thinking this if you are restraining yourself from making a decision, then I want to remind you with these lines,
"Not making a decision is a bad decision in itself"
"Most of the answers are not found thinking, but by doing"
Now we are clear about where we were stuck, let's see what we can do to make a move.
# Write down the pros and cons of a situation in which you are making a decision. Consider every possible angle and aspect of the situation. Give some time to yourself to think over.
# Possibility 2. We are afraid of the consequences
People under this category, I would like to put up two questions for you.
Q.1 What part of the consequences is in your control?
~ Your perspective towards consequence is in your hands.
~ What should be the next "action plan" is in your hands if the decision goes wrong.
~ Having a "Plan B" ready to mitigate the loss is in your hands.
Q.2 What part of the consequences is not in your control?
~ Whether people will appreciate your decision or not.
~ What will society think about your decision.
# Possibility 1. We are the great procrastinator in the world
Now it's your turn.
I have a question for you as well.
Q. 1 Is this procrastination going to help you to make the right decision?
If "Yes" then enjoy procrastination as not all procrastinations are bad.
Yeah, you heard it right!
If "No" then revisit my above two points to seek some help.
This was easier than what you had thought, wasn't this?
